Forklift Scales... Installation & Calibration

National LTL trucking companies rely on accurate measurements from their legal for trade forklift scale systems every day

Large trucking companies will typically buy their forklift scales directly from the manufacturer of the devices because they are buying so many units for each of their terminals spread across North America.

All of those scales must be inspected and placed in service with the Florida Department of Agriculture Weights and Measures.  This ensures that the devices are accurate and properly weighing shipments because the freight companies will add weight penalties to shipments that were improperly entered into the system.

These "Re-Weighs" generate millions of dollars for freight companies annually so the scales are a quick payback on the investment.

These particular lifts were being outfitted with the Rice Lake Weighing Systems CLS Forklift Scale System which was running their VIRTUI 3 software on a Honeywell tablet on the lift.  This nicely integrated system works seamlessly with their shipment tracking and barcode scanning software.

The forklift scales are calibrated on flat and level ground and then we account for the pitch and roll angles measured from the IQUBE junction box mounted into the carriage of the scale assembly.

Once all of these devices have been tested, we write up a report to the department of agriculture weights and measures to notify them that the devices are in service and the customer is required to submit a weighing and measuring device permit application for each scale to use them as a class 3 legal for trade device.
