A candy manufacturer was having issues contacting their existing supplier to come out in a reasonable timeframe to assist with their yearly calibrations prior to their big upcoming SQF Audit. So we were called in with short notice to assist with all of the weighing devices at their facility... Most of the devices were pretty straight forward like this Doran 2200 bench scale for weighing out corn syrup in small amounts for some of their product mixes.
But they did have a custom built area to mix up the main ingredients in large quantities for their batches that required the use of our specialty weight hanging hardware in order to properly perform the calibration.
These are attached on either side of the mixing vessel are allow our service technicians to hang multiple NIST Certified 50 lb grip handle calibration weights onto the mixing hopper were there would not have been an adequate platform.
This also allows us to move the weights around on the vessel to load evenly across the hopper or to focus weights onto a single load sensor if we are trying to diagnose a potential issue with that component.
Once the weights are hung we were able to make a calibration adjustment for this hopper as the previous company was only inspecting it with 100 lbs of certified test weights and we were able to get 500 lbs of certified weights onto the device. The higher capacity your test point is, the higher quality the calibration that is provided.
This system utilized an Avery Weigh-Tronix ZM405 digital weight display with a setpoint to shut off the filling pump for the ingredient once the target weight was achieved for the batch.
